Welcome to the Copleston Church & Community Centre

Welcome to the Copleston Church and Community Centre, a space for everyone in the heart of Peckham. Every week, more than 500 people join us for activities from Thai-Chi to community singing. This multi-cultural, multi-purpose community centre grew around Copleston Church, a joint Church of England and United Reformed Church with a thriving congregation.

Built during the rapid development of south London in Victorian times, Copleston is tucked away down a side street. It's worth making the  effort to find us and try something new - you might become a regular! Many of our groups are run by local residents and some have been going for over 35 years.

Alongside the church, people of all faiths and none join in activities from Scout groups to Soca classes and drumming workshops. We also have a community space available to hire at affordable rates for events and activities.

Can you help? We urgently need extra income to get us through the coronavirus crisis!

Support us and help us survive to continue serving the local community we.

Coronavirus Update 9th April 2020

The Copleston Centre currently has a limited remote service  for our most vulnerable service users. All group activities have ceased until further notice. Worship will be conducted be available by live stream on the Copleston Church Facebook page.  In the light of most recent advice we will no longer even be open for private prayer but continue to be available for telephone support.

We ask that you take reasonable precautions to look after your own health. Here are the most recent Public Health England Guidelines.

Everyone should do what they can to stop coronavirus spreading.

How to avoid catching and spreading coronavirus (social distancing):

It is particularly important for people who:

  •     are 70 or over
  •     have a long-term condition
  •     are pregnant
  •     have a weakened immune system

  • Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home).
  • If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times.
  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home.
  • Do not meet others, even friends or family. You can spread the virus even if you don't have symptoms.

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
  • avoid close contact with people who have symptoms of coronavirus
  • only travel on public transport if you need to
  • work from home

The NHS latest advice is:

  • a high temperature - this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough - this means coughing a lot for amore than an hour, or 3 or more coughing espisodes in 24 hours (if you susally have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

To protect others, do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Stay at home.

Use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do.

You can find more information on the Public Health England website here.

Therefore, we have a number of ways in which you can contact the Copleston Mutual Aid group.

A Facebook group. See this link.

A Whatsapp Group. See this link.
