Silver Linings - our programme of activities for older people.
As Copleston, and the community we’re part of, has evolved over the years, we have found an increase in demand for activities and services for older people. In 2016, we asked for informal feedback about what older people would like to see more of and, in response, we co-created the Silver Linings programme. which is now funded by City Bridge Trust.
In addition to long-running groups like Looking at Books, Music Appreciation and T'ai Chi, we have developed new classes and opportunities. These include Silver Soca, a dominoes group, and visits to galleries and theatres. We work closely with the Copleston Community Cafe where we offer a monthly programme of Cafe Talks focused on different subjects. We have also linked with the Southwark Healthy Walks in Peckham Rye and Guys and St Thomas' Falls Prevention Strength and Balance who now run a programme of classes at our centre.
The programme is designed to cater for our diverse community and their wide range of interests , and all sessions take place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can meet new people, see old friends, share and learn new skills and suggest ideas for the programme.
The Copleston Centre is close to the centre of Peckham and served by the following buses: P13 is 3 minutes walk away (bus stop: Ivanhoe Road); 40, 42, 176, 185 and 484 are 10 minutes walk away (bus stop: Elsie Road and Ondine Road).
