The Copleston Centre has a long and proud tradition of work with older people.
More recently, we are pleased to have been awarded funding from City Bridge Trust for Silver Linings, a three-year programme of work with people over 65 which has incorporated previous classes into a programme of activities and events that meets the needs of a diverse older community. Our aim is to provide activities and events which enable older people to volunteer, socialise and build relationships, develop new skills, share talents and improve physical and mental well-being.
A thriving programme has increased our local and borough-wide presence and enabled us to reconnect with and build new partnerships with individuals and organisations across the borough.
While challenges of Covid-19 have prevented us from providing many of our activities face-to-face, but thanks to our funder flexibility and support with our Silver Linings programme and new funding from Southwark Community Response Fund, we have been keeping in contact with all our groups through phone calls, emails, work with partner organisations and delivering differently with video, Facebook Live, Rooms and Whatsapp groups and with our Real Meals On Wheels home delivery service with Level Six Foods.
