The Copleston Centre has a long and proud tradition of work with older people.
We provide a range of culturally diverse activities and events which enable older people to: volunteer; socialise and build relationships; develop new skills; share talents and improve physical and mental well-being.
We regularly consult with the people who use our services and our programme is designed to respond to and cater for our diverse community and their wide range of interests . All sessions take place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can meet new people, see old friends, share and learn new skills and suggest ideas for the programme.
Over the past two and a half years, thanks to funding from the City Bridge Trust, our programme has developed and enabled us to increase our reach and range of activities and build new relationships with individuals, organisations and funders.
While challenges of Covid-19 prevented us from providing many of our activities face-to-face, thanks to our existing funder flexibility and support from new funders, we were able to keep in contact with people through phone calls and email, and deliver our services differently via video, Facebook Live, Rooms and Whatsapp groups. We also piloted our Real Meals service with Level Six Foods which has since gone from strength to strength.
We are now offering a combination of face-to-face sessions for smaller groups at the centre, cultural trips and walks and most importantly, keeping in touch with all our participants in whatever way suits them.
We always welcome adults of other age groups when there is space on our older people's programme, to help create an inclusive multi-generational community.
